It is amazing to me that there are still industries out there that have store reps that have to report back to corporate what product is in your store. Think about that for a second. In the days of technology where you can track your bills electronically, pay them electronically, ship a product globally via the Internet, and even purchase a product from a website anywhere in the world and have it delivered to your home within a few days… you are still requiring a manufacturers rep to come into your store, check stock levels, reorganize their display and potentially bring in new product.
The last two points are fine and vital to a healthy product presentation. What is not healthy is creating a road block in the retail supply chain where you are requiring a manufacturer/supplier to physically come to your store to see if their product is doing well. By utilizing the right technology solution you can easily give these manufacture reps the in stock quantities to a mobile device so they know (before they show up) what they need to bring with them. It gives them a better understanding of which products sell well in your store, which better serves you and your customer by ensuring they are stocking the right product in the future.
