Black Bedding Ensembles for Contemporary Bedrooms

If there is one color which is found almost exclusively in contemporary style rooms, it is black. When it comes to contemporary bedrooms, many fear that it is too dark a color and shy away from using it. That does not have to be a problem, however, if you use black in the right way in your bedroom.

Although you can find some solid black bedding sets in textured suede like materials, which can look stunning, the best and safest way to use black in a bedroom is in a pattern along with another color or colors. To keep the look contemporary, the pattern should have clean lines and just one or two additional colors alongside black.

For a fresh, and slightly romantic contemporary look for a bedroom, you could start with a black and white bedding ensemble in a classic pattern. Although the pattern, whether paisley, French toile or plaid, will be classic, the use of black and white together keeps the look very fresh and modern. This would go well with a mainly white bedroom although creating one feature wall in black at the head of the bed would give the room an additional touch of sophistication and a more modern look.

Black, dark brown and coffee shades together create another sophisticated modern color scheme for a bedroom that can be paired with lighter beige for carpets and coffee colored curtains trimmed in black. A feature black leather shag rug would go well with this look.

Finally, black and dark purple or aubergine are the latest color combination which would also work well in a contemporary bedroom. This time, create a feature wall in dark purple while painting the remaining walls ivory and along with your purple and black bedding add matching blinds or eyelet curtains with large chrome eyelets and a purple or black rug. A chrome bed frame in a modern design would work well in this case.
