Ceiling lighting is an extremely versatile addition to any home. With some semi-honed DIY home improvement abilities you can install this style of lights anywhere you want. This post is going to give you some ideas for creative installation of ceiling lights.
Just remember that it takes an ability to run wires through your walls and ceiling, as well as work with drywall, to make a new installation for a ceiling light. If you don't have those skills, either learn them or hire a qualified pro to do it for you.
One of my favorite installations for ceiling lights is to highlight artwork on the walls. This seems to work best with chrome ceiling lights, and really gives that area of your home an art gallery feel. Be sure that any expensive art you have is protected from the extra light that will be shining directly on it, or you will risk fading it over time.
Another cool installation idea is to hang pendant lights on long cords from the ceiling to the level that lamps usually reside in. This isn't a good idea in homes with little kids, or big playful dogs, but works well in those with grown-ups. The long cable creates a very creative effect, but it's important to keep in mind that you'll have to deal with leaving your furniture in that spot or you'll have a light hanging down without a purpose.
Track lighting has its obvious benefits, but one of the best installations I've seen is all the way down a hallway. The lights were positioned to shine on to photos that decorated the walls. The walls were a light color so they reflected the light back into the rest of the hallway. It grew from a hallway to a art gallery-esque tunnel.
There are an infinite number of installations for ceiling lights, but these are three of the most creative and unique that I've seen. Hopefully they can get your brain's gears turning to figure out some great ways to get them installed in your home.
