Hair loss is difficult to treat because its causes can be many.
Certain medications can trigger hair loss. These include blood thinners, birth control pills and anti-depressants among others.
A fungal infection can be to blame, in which case a topical or oral anti-fungal medicine is usually all it takes to clear it up.
Hair loss can result from overprocessing with chemicals used to curl or straighten hair or dyes and bleach. So can wearing hair styles that pull your tresses excessively tight.
Or it may be that you are genetically predisposed to lose your hair. In this case, a group of hormones called androgens build up in the hair follicles and inhibit their ability to produce healthy, strong strands. Eventually, if the build up continues, the affected follicles can die altogether.
