Firstly the pros:
Easy Access – The lack of a barrier makes entry to the walk in shower as easy as physically possible, requiring no squatting, sitting or bending at all from the user. This opens up the unit to elderly people or those with limited mobility, along with providing the highest level of convenience to the regular user.
Looks – It cannot be argued that walk in shower units add a touch of elegant modernity to the bathroom. Cast aside the thoughts of the grim, functional units of old and welcome in the era of custom designs and finishes designed not just to serve a purpose but also look simply beautiful.
Price – The initial investment is far outweighed by the money saved over the long-term by means of reduced hot water costs...not that initial investment has to be an expensive one!
...and the cons:
Relaxation – There are few that would argue the fact that sitting in a hot bath with a few candles around you and some light music is about a thousand times more relaxing than running in and out of a shower unit for a quick five minute scrub.
Classic style – If your interior decor intention is to remain truly faithful to old-fashioned and traditional styles, a free standing bath tub which perfectly complements your 1920s sunburst mirror is likely to be much more suitable than a contemporary walk in shower.
