For those that aren’t familiar with Ray Rice you got a good view of him if you watching any NFL football this season. For those that aren’t draft aficionados it is quite likely you knew little of him prior to his first season in the NFL. Drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens after a great college career at Rutgers. Given his stellar 2009 season, the Ray Rice rookie card is one to take note of as it will be on the rise for some time.
A key cog in the Baltimore offense, his versatility is matched by few in the NFL. Given his great rushing prowess at Rutgers it wasn’t a huge stretch to envision him terrorizing NFL defenses with his inside running. The thing that came with that no one knew about was the top notch catching ability. And he is likely the most prominent pass catching back in the NFL today, which is quite an impressive statement given the stellar all around running backs in the NFL like Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew and Ladanain Tomlinson. But the accolades are well deserved given the accomplishments he has made since joining the professional ranks.
Leading the Ravens into the playoffs and then putting and exclamation point on his season on his first run of the postseason (an 83 yard touchdown run that put the Patriots on notice that this wasn’t to be there day). His 2,000 all purpose yards and 8 total touchdowns were just the icing on the cake.
Football card collectors are clamoring for a slice of the pie that is Ray Rice. After an impressive but not drop down gorgeous rookie year, he took the NFL by storm this past season and has made the nation step up and take notice. If you didn’t know who he was before you sure do now.
