The key to a long and healthy life is no big secret. However, it involves letting go of old practices and embracing good sleeping habits, having a nutritional diet and getting enough exercise.
Studies were made comparing countries that had a diet high in fruits and vegetables. The countries included in this observation are Africa, China, the Mediterranean and Russia.
More than 150 studies were made regarding nutrition in the last decade. A number of diseases affecting North Americans were not as widespread in these countries. Diseases like diverticulitis, hernia, colon cancer and prostate cancer.
Diets and a long lifespan
People in Iceland and Japan have something in common. The average longevity in both of these countries is rather high. McDonald’s also exists in Japan, but one noticeable difference is that their Happy Meal can come with vegetable juice.
Although fresh juice is always better than commercial juice, commercial vegetable juices which are high in sodium can still be better than soft drinks. Commercial fruit juice is another matter. Concentrated fruit juice can have as much as 50% more sugar than soft drinks. If one wants the most nutritious beverage, a fruit or vegetable juicer is needed.
Toxins and detoxification
Environmental pollution, metals, manufactured drugs, processed food and the human body all have toxins which can be bad for a person’s health. A lot of people go on juice diets for detoxification. This is the process that removes metabolic waste, metals, carcinogens and other toxins in the body.
It is a fact that the liver and kidneys are tasked with detoxifying one’s body. However, these do not always function at their best. This is what naturopaths believe. To assist these body organs in detoxification, one can choose to drink fresh wheatgrass juice.
A good wheatgrass juicer is needed in order to get all the nutrients one could get from wheatgrass. This plant is used widely for detoxification. Those who are new to drinking this juice should take it easy. A person with a poor diet may feel nauseous if large amounts are consumed right away.
During the detoxification process, one should also stay away from fatty food. A diet high in fiber and certain elements like sulfur are needed during phase II of the detoxification process. Kale can be good for this part.
