There are a lot of opinions about homeschooling out there and it starts with the kindergarteners. However, this is the time to start enjoying your schooling time with your kids. After all, how much play and learning would they do if they were in school? Here are some great tips for homeschooling kindergarten kids.

First, have fun with it. Get out the paints, have fun with snacks, and go outside and run around. After all, now is the time to have fun while learning, but to be learning more from having fun is important.

Skip a whole curriculum at this age. Buy a few pieces, but don’t overwhelm your child and yourself trying to make it through an entire curriculum.

Start to learn to read now. It will save you a headache later on, is fun, and will be the basics that so much will be built upon. Even though most schools won’t start teaching reading now, homeschooling kindergarten lets you get your child started on the path of learning.

Other then starting to learn to read you can skip out on curriculum and instead hit the library for good books. Get ones that include counting and early addition. Find science and history for young ones. Enjoy letting them help you cook and garden for great lessons.

Remember to relax, have fun, and get them thinking. You don’t have to slave away with hours of learning. Just get them started on having lessons and started with reading. Add other learning opportunities and you will be on your way to homeschooling kindergarten children excellently.
