Clutter around your bathroom will make a small one look smaller; however, lots or creative bathroom storage will also make it look small. It means that you need to look for the best options when it comes to bathroom storage ideas for small bathrooms.
What About a Vanity Unit?
Instead of having a pedestal sink, replace it with a bathroom vanity unit. This will offer a cupboard space underneath the basin, which offers somewhere to store your towels, toiletries and other general clutter. This type of creative bathroom storage also looks good and makes the sink much easier to clean. Many different types, sizes and styles of vanity units are available. Once you have decided on which one you like best, you can match other elements in your bathroom with it to create a blended whole. These could include towel rails and toilet seats to name but two.
If you prefer the traditional style basin, or do not have the money to remodel your room, consider buying some baskets or plastic units to place under the sink; this will also give room for a small bin too. Plastic boxes are relatively affordable and offer an easy option to store clutter. Another option would be to get a metal mesh rolling cart that you can move out of the bathroom when it is not used. This would of course mean that you have to have a handy corner of cupboard where you can store the cart when not using it.
Creative bathroom storage for the Bath
If you have a bath that has space at either end – or both if you are lucky – why not add some storage there? You can add a small shelving unit at the ends, which will offer space for items that you need, such as bath salts, shower gel and your shampoo. This will offer easy access for both a bath and a shower and will make it look tidy. If neither side of the bath has space, look at putting something on the walls.

If you do not have the space at either end, consider adding a unit on the wall. There are many made of metal or wood that look great and will help to maximize the limited space that you do have. You will also find that everything is still in reach when you are in the bath or shower. Another option would be to have a storage unit hanging from the shower curtain rail as shown in the picture on the left.
Trying to find storage ideas for small bathrooms does not need to be difficult; you just need to look at your space and think of ways to maximize it. There are a variety of areas that you would never usually think about, and under the sink and around the bath are just two of them.
