Verizon FiOS Bundles Compared With Cable TV

One of the new options in the eastern part of the United States is Verizon Fios TV.  This all fiber optic service was specifically deployed so that Verizon could deal with the competition, namely cable television companies like Comcast and Time Warner.  Verizon also needed to be able to compete with satellite TV, as television is of course one of the things that Americans really love.

So if you are looking into Fios service, you might be wondering how much it costs, and is it as good as cable service.  Of course many love the content they get from their cable provider, including super fast internet access and plenty of cable networks.  What they don't like is the poor customer service and the high price of cable.   Since Fios has only been around five years, many are hesitant to a bit reluctant to try it out.  Those who have signed up have generally given the service a thumbs up, as the high definition content is comparable if not better than the competition.

Many have been enticed by the Verizon Fios deals that are available for first time customers.  Last year there were several promotions that offered cash back if you are a new subscriber.   This year the Verizon Fios bundle that is attracting attention is the triple play offer for $89.99 a month.  This particular package is discounted by $20 a month for two years, or a $480 dollar savings overall.  This also beats most cable triple play packages by $10 a month, as they usually are priced at $99 a month.  Generally, cable TV deals are also only offered for one year, so you do get another year of savings.  One disadvantage some have reported with Fios is their DVR.  While it generally functions the same as similar devices from competitors, the Fios DVR doesn't have the capacity of other models out there.
