What Does The Colon Do?
The function of the colon is to process waste material that the body can’t use, after all usable nutrients are absorbed by the body and the colon, the colon pushes all the unneeded product out of the body in the form of fecal material. Most healthy people have a bowel movement once or twice a day and this is completely healthy and the body’s way of keeping itself in peak performance mode. Constipation is not unusual and it is usually easily correctable with a better diet consisting of a lot of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to insure more regular bowel movements. The colon is totally self cleaning and self regulating and doesn’t need any cleaning or detoxing to function optimally. Because the colon is associated with feces, I think a lot of people may have the impression that it is dirty or unhealthy but this is the way it was designed and it functions perfectly with no additional help needed.
